The community-based Earlwood Wanderers Football Club (EWFC) in Sydney has concluded a successful 2023 season, thanks to the significant support of a Greek-Australian family.

The Earlwood side had an impressive campaign, particularly through its U21/1s men’s team, which made it to the quarter finals of the Football NSW Champions of Champions tournament as well as the FNSW State Cup Final, both times losing to Cronulla Seagulls.

The team has found plenty of support in its journey, with the club especially recognising the influence of the Tatsis family.

“The EWFC community would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the success of one of our club’s families’, the ‘Tatsis family’ who have contributed for many years, including in season 2023 and in many prior seasons, embodying what community football is all about,” said Tamara Mulroney, president of Earlwood Wanderers Football Club.

The family, consisting of Jim, Christos and Apostolos, have combined to help the side both in the playing and coaching department over the years, with Mulroney adding they have set “an inspiring example for our entire local football community, especially our volunteers and players.”

“Congratulations to Jim, Christos and Apostolos (Pauli) Tatsis, who enjoyed success as 2017 and 2023 FNSW State Cup Runners Up, 2011 and 2016 FNSW State Cup Winners, 2011 and 2019 FNSW Champion of Champions Winners, along with multiple local competition wins, State quarter finalist appearances and Kanga Cup successes,” Mulroney said.
