In the lead-up to the upcoming European elections, Athanasios Tsouhantaris, a well-known Greek-Australian entrepreneur based in Melbourne, is reportedly being considered as a candidate for the New Democracy party.
Sources within New Democracy and reports from Greek media suggest that the party is contemplating the inclusion of the expatriate businessman on its European ballot.
According to these sources, Tsouhantaris is being eyed for a prominent position on the New Democracy list.
When approached by Neos Kosmos for a comment, Mr Tsouhantaris avoided making any statements, saying that “Announcements will be made by the party in due course.”
It is noteworthy that a few months ago, Mr Tsouhantaris was received at the Maximos Mansion by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
During their meeting, they discussed matters concerning the Greek diaspora in Australia.
The potential candidacy of Tsouhantaris reflects an ongoing effort by New Democracy to engage with the Greek community abroad and strengthen its representation in European institutions.
