Former Bentleigh Greens Soccer Club President Savvas Koureas has passed away aged 78.
Born in the village of Kambos tis Tsakistras near Nicosia, Cyprus, Koureas was a founding father of Bentleigh Greens, who formed in 1986.
He was instrumental to the Greens and always provided his support through periods of success and struggle.
The Greek Cypriot based club took to social media to share their sorrow in hearing the news.
“Savvas served as president during some of the clubs greatest and toughest moments but throughout never asked for anything in return,” the Facebook post read.

“In more recent times Savvas could be seen on the side lines, cheering his club and offering some stern advice to the football operations team whether they liked to hear it or not.
“Savvas you will be sorely missed, the place you helped built won’t be the same without you. Rest in Peace”
