AEK secured an important victory in a tight game with Aris, ascending into second position on the ladder in the process as they continue their strong push for a second consecutive premiership.
Enosi earned a 1-0 success over the Thessaloniki side at “Agia Sophia” Stadium on Tuesday morning in the final game of the Greek Super League’s 13th round, going past Olympiacos on the ladder to become Panathinaikos’ closest challengers.
AEK found the match’s only goal in the 59th minute, courtesy of a corner header from centre half Domagoj Vida which proved enough to seal maximum points.
PAOK had an easier outing by comparison, defeating Lamia 3-0 at “Toumba” Stadium to remain two points off top spot.
The “black-whites” went in front 21 minutes in after young playmaker Giannis Konstantelias guided his effort into the bottom left, with left back Rafa Soares adding in a second shortly before the break (43′).
Right back Joan Sastre then joined his fellow wing back on the scoresheet with a strong finish into the left side of the net to ensure the win (57′).
Panathinaikos downed the Cretans 4-0 at “Leoforos” Stadium on Monday morning to end the first half of the regular season as league leaders.
Striker Fotis Ioannidis opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 34th minute to give his side the lead before winger Aitor Cantalapiedra made it two just after the hour mark (61′).
Palacios added a third for the “Trifylli” in the 69th minute and Ioannidis wrapped up the game with a final goal in injury time (90+1′).
Olympiacos earned a 2-2 away draw to Volos in a very messy contest that at one point was stopped for approximately an hour following incidents between the fans and police.
The Magnesia side took the lead in the 20th minute after winning a penalty, resulting in a red card for Olympiacos defender Panagiotis Retsos.
Volos striker Panagiotis Moraitis had his spot-kick saved by goalkeeper Alexandros Paschalakis but managed to knock in the rebound, though the Piraeus outfit did manage to equalise in the 44th minute via a successfully converted penalty of their own by striker Ayoub El Kaabi.
A late first half second yellow card to Volos right back Georgios Mygas (45+13′) levelled it again to ten players vs ten, and the hosts then took the lead once again through a penalty that striker Juan Manuel Garcia took (51′).
The “red-whites” drew level three minutes later, thanks to an own goal by defender Alexios Kalogeropoulos in an attempted clearance.
Atromitos played out a 1-1 draw at home to Giannina to preserve their place above them on the table.
The Peristeriotes went ahead in the 64th minute via a goal from winger Gaetan Robail, though the Epirutans would find an equaliser later through centre back Rodrigo Erramuspe’s successful penalty attempt (87′).
The result extends Giannina winless run to 13 games and keeps them stuck in 13th place, just above Kifisia on goal difference.
Panetolikos beat Kifisia 3-0 at home to jump past them on the ladder and stick them in last position in the process.
The Agrinio side took the advantage just before half time due to striker Joao Pedro’s penalty in the 45+1st minute.
The home side then made it two via forward Frederico Duarte (61′) before centre half Burno Duarte bagged himself a goal (78′) to seal the victory.
It was a vital win for Panetolikos, their first in five outings and only their second of the season thus far.
Asteras Tripolis struck late through substitute Juan Bautista Miritello (78′) to ensure a 1-0 home triumph over Panserraikos, moving temporarily into the top six as a result.
