The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) has announced the exceptional success of its VCE students in this year’s Modern Greek exams.

According to reports from the Greek Community’s Language and Cultural Schools, eight out of the 44 students who undertook the exam attained scores of 40 or higher, placing them within the top 91 percentile statewide.

Remarkably, 86 per cent of GCM students achieved scores equal to or above 29 out of 50, with only one student indicating Greek as their primary language.

Of significant note is the achievement of several third-generation Greek Australians among those who attained outstanding results, underscoring the remarkable engagement of non-native speakers in the GCM’s school program.

In Ancient Greek, one of the four participating students secured an impressive score of 35 out of 50.

Maria Bakalidou, principal of the GCM School Program, expressed profound dedication from educators, stating, “We are committed to sustaining educational excellence and upholding high teaching standards with unwavering enthusiasm and dedication.”
