St John’s College (SJC) in Preston, Melbourne have congratulated its Year 12 Class of 2023 while also announcing this year’s cohort were among some of the most positive in the school’s history.
Highlighting the news was two Greek Australian students, Helen Petrou and Paul Ketikidis.
Petrou, the College Dux, achieved an ATAR of 93.7 and Dux Proximus, Ketikidis scored a 91.1 ATAR.
St John’s congratulated the pair in a press release sent to Neos Kosmos.
As for the entire group of SJC students, 10 per cent of them were among the top 10 per cent in Victoria, 21 per cent made the top 20 per cent in the state, and 35 per cent of students were in the top 30 per cent.
College Principal Andrew Ponsford said the school was delighted with the academic efforts of this year’s class.
“These positive academic results were achieved by students who participated fully in the co-curricular life of the College throughout their time with us,” he said in the press release.
“They also demonstrated great modelling and leadership in their final years as our senior students.”
Ponsford pointed to the support of parents, effective school wide initiatives to improve teaching and learning, and the committed staff as to why said results were possible.
“The emphasis in the VCE in 2023 has been on achieving personal best and we are delighted that our VCE results reflect this, as we wish the class of 2023 all the very best with their future endeavours.”
