The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) united students, families, educators, and the Board of Directors to celebrate the achievements of the graduating class of 2023for this year’s academic journey.

With six campuses and 44 accomplished students, the ceremony exemplified the dedication to excellence and inclusivity that defines GCM’s educational programs.

The Principal of the GCM Schools Maria Bakalidou, welcomed attendees, stating, “Successfully completing Greek school represents significant achievements that demand numerous hours, sacrifices, perseverance, patience, and a deliberate commitment. Today, they stand before us as exemplary young individuals, serving as role models for our younger students and a source of pride for us as parents and educators.”

Helene Hiotis, GCM board member, highlighted the broader significance of education saying that it is “not merely about facts and figures; it’s about fostering a curious spirit that propels you forward. The lessons from Greek studies extend beyond the classroom, offering insights into critical thinking, communication, and cultural appreciation.”

Anthi Tzani, VCE teacher, expressed, “Witnessing the growth, resilience, and admirable dedication of our students is truly inspiring. Always bear in mind that the value of a person is not defined by numbers, no matter how impressive they may be.”

Later, students were presented with graduation certificates and a commemorative Olive Branch Award, crafted by a Greek artist for the occasion.

“Witnessing the graduation of 44 students fills me with immense pride” said Dr. Nick Dallas, the GCM Head of Educational Programs.

“Our students have not only excelled academically but have also embraced the values of community, leadership, and service. They are our ambassadors, successors, future educators, and community leaders.”

The celebration continued with lively Greek music, creating an enchanting atmosphere that brought everyone together.
