Thousands of Greeks Australians welcomed the New Year with dance and revelry on New Year’s Eve.

At the Vogue Ballroom, the New Year’s Eve celebration has become a cherished annual tradition for the past ten years.

This year, over 400 people enjoyed a fantastic program and menu meticulously prepared by owner George Ross.

The musical part of the evening was curated by Nick Missailidis, Steve Pavlidis (bouzouki), Panos Bekos (clarinet), and others paying a special tribute to Vasilis Karras who passed away just before Christmas.

Attending guests sang without music the chorus of “Den pao pouthena”. The entire venue erupted in applause and sang on the tops of their voices.A New Year’s Eve event of the Kefallonian Association “O Kefalos” at its premises at 16-20 Stawell Street, West Melbourne was also a packed house.

Numerous members of the Greek community attended the event, including Consul General Emmanuel Kakavelakis and well-known entrepreneur and figure of New Democracy in Australia, Athanasios Tsouchantaris, among others.

Last but not least, the community’s youth dominated the events till the early morning hours at the New Year’s Eve gathering of the Philanthropic Association of Nafpaktians at its premises, where over 500 people were present in total.

Hundreds of Greek Australians also welcomed 2024 at the New Year’s event organised by the Greek Community of Oakleigh.

Several Greek Australians gathered to bring in 2024, celebrating with the PanArcadian Kolokotronis tapping into Greek kefi, music, dance, a rich Hellenic banquet with drinks and mastiha from Chios.
