The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) has been designated as the official examination center for the 2024 Certificate of Attainment in Greek for Victoria.

This milestone underscores the GCM’s dedication to preserving and promoting Greek language and culture within Australia’s diverse community.

“Becoming an official examination center for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek is a momentous occasion. We reaffirm our commitment to being a cornerstone for the Greek language in Victoria, emphasising its unity in Melbourne’s multicultural landscape,” GCM President Bill Papastergiadis, OAM, said.

Dr Nick Dallas, GCM Head of Educational Programs, highlighted GCM’s commitment to upholding standards set by the Centre for the Greek Language, adding that “As the official examination center, GCM ensures a seamless certification process while becoming a hub for educational and cultural exchange.”

“Our goal is to spotlight, promote, and preserve the Greek language and culture.”

Helene Hiotis, GCM board member and principal of Bentleigh Secondary College, added, “Being recognised as the official examination center for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek underscores our commitment to language preservation. We embrace this responsibility, providing a reputable platform for individuals certifying their Greek proficiency.”

The Certificate of Attainment in Greek, officially recognised by the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, validates proficiency in Greek as a foreign or second language.

Ranging from A1 for children aged 8-12 to C2, this certification holds immense value for those showcasing their Greek language skills.
