Greek-French tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou will be opening a new Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in Australia.

The founder of Tennis Majors and creator of UTS Tour’s new academy will be part of the planned Cape Otway Road Australia (CORA) sport and wellness tourism destination located on a on the Victorian Surf Coast.

A 220-hectare site, it will replicate Mouratoglou’s flagship facility in Nice on the French Riviera – where leading stars such as Holger Rune, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Coco Gauff and Alexei Popyrin have been training.

Mouratoglou is a decorated tennis coach, having coached the likes of Serena Williams and Tsitsipas, with the former winning 10 Grand Slams and Olympic Gold under his tutelage.

His first player was Marcos Baghdatis who he began coaching in 1999, helping him become junior world No.1, win the 2003 Australian Open boys’ title and reach the final of the 2006 Australian Open.

“This is a big move for our brand,” Mouratoglou said in a statement.

“We have always loved Australia, a genuine ‘tennis nation’, and this partnership is an exciting development for the region, providing educational and career opportunities for young students as well as athletes.”

The Tennis Academy complex at CORA will comprise 48 courts, including 33 tennis courts, 15 other courts (padel, pickle and mini), a show court, and a clubhouse with gym and swimming facilities.

An Australian-accredited boarding school provider will also be linking up with the academy, which is second in the world for Mouratoglou, who opened five centres overseas.

The first school year is expected to start in 2027, and will have approximately 200 on offer for tennis students. Tennis camps will also be available to the public, primarily during school holidays.

CORA’s co-founder Daryl Pelchen added that “Mouratoglou’s involvement illustrates the potency and relevance of the CORA project in a global context.”

“Created to represent the best of Australia to the rest of the world, we are delighted to welcome Mouratoglou as an anchor tenant at CORA.

“With a shared vision for excellence, Mouratoglou Academy Australia at CORA will provide a unique destination to both identify and shape champions.”
