Sydney Olympic came out champions in the friendly against South Melbourne for the The Greek Herald Cup Saturday afternoon at Sydney’s Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.
Even though many football fans are still on holiday, around three thousand people packed the stadium.
It brought back memories and created impatience for the future, especially the start of the long-awaited second national tier. The first half saw South Melbourne, the visiting team, stand out and control the game but without creating any dangerous situations for the home team.
In the second half, Sydney Olympic held the ball more, moved it around more effectively, and created the conditions for a goal.
The goal eventually came for the hosts, giving the Olympic the win.
Following the match, South Melbourne quickly returned to Melbourne to participate in the Greek Community Cup, which began on Sunday, January 14th.
