Interior Minister Niki Kerameus announced that the legislation on postal voting will be discussed in parliament today ahead of its introduction for this year’s European Elections.

Ms Kerameus, in speaking on SKAI TV, explained how the process will work, detailing the envelopes and ballots as well as assuring citizens that the whole postal voting method is secure.

The process will require voters wishing to participate in postal voting to access the respective platform on gov.gr, which can be logged into by using your Taxisnet credentials.

Voters will have to declare officially their intention to submit a postal vote at least 40 days before the election day via the online platform.

Once you have submitted a declaration of intent, a confirmation SMS will be sent to the voter’s mobile phone which will allow them to electronically track the ballot envelope until it is delivered to their address.

Voters must correctly complete, seal and return the envelope to the appropriate Greek authorities before June 8, the day before the European Elections.
