The Double-headed eagle of the North has received promising news that suggests they will land the signature of Wolverhampton Wanderers full back Jonny Otto.
The Spaniard has fallen out of favour with the Premier League side after an incident in training last November, with the club no longer interested in his services.
PAOK has appeared as his most likely destination and the deal is becoming ever more likely as reports state Jonny is close to ending his contract with Wolves (which currently runs until 2025).
Jonny would have to take a pay cut to join the Greek side, who do not have the resources to cover his current deal that is said to be more than €3 million a year.
The 29-year-old, who can play both on the right and left side of defence, has featured sparingly this season with only seven appearances so far and a major issue in his relationship with the club came in an unfortunate training ground incident in November.
The scene in question involved Jonny elbowing teammate Tawanda Chirewa and spitting at a member of staff, before damaging a TV and table afterwards.
This saw the Spanish wing back get banned from first team affairs, greatly affecting his match time.
Wolves manager Gary O-Neil stated that he would discuss Jonny’s future at the end of the month if he did not secure a move, though it seems that will not be necessary with PAOK interested in his services.
Should the current league leaders get their man, it would be their first official transfer in the January window with the reinforcement helping boost their push for the championship.
Their main competition right now seems to be Jonny’s former side Celta de Vigo, his boyhood club in which he played over 200 games before moving to England.
