The Double-headed eagle of the North is set to host the “Trifylli” in what promises to be a massive derby encounter that could have major ramifications on the title race.

PAOK takes on Panathinaikos at “Toumba” Stadium in the headline fixture of the Greek Super League’s 20th round on Monday morning (AEDT), with first position available to whomever can win the match.

The two top sides are currently locked together on 44 points and each side would no doubt relish the opportunity to ascend past the other on the ladder.

For PAOK, the game seems especially important given they have the home ground advantage and are coming up against a Greens side that is suffering from numerous injuries and is in a period of transition.

The Greens have changed managers and brought in five new players in the last month, a stark amount of change compared to the settled Thessaloniki outfit which has really settled in and really come into their own this campaign.

AEK will be hoping to pounce on any dropped points, though they will first be concerned about beating OFI at “Agia Sophia” ground.

The match holds particular significance for Enosi, given their only league defeat came at the hands of the Cretans last October, making this a perfect opportunity for revenge.

Olympiacos faces relegation-battling Giannina at “Georgios Karaiskakis” Stadium in what is essentially a must-win game if they wish to stay firmly in the mix for the premiership.

Asteras Tripolis challenges Atromitos at home and the match should prove an interesting affair as both teams are in form, the Arcadians fighting their way into sixth position and the Peristeriotes coming off an unbelievable cup win against Panathinaikos inside their own home ground.

Aris travels to face bottom-placed Kifisia on Sunday morning in what should prove to be an easy success, with the home side’s only hope being that the Thessaloniki club had to play in the Cup midweek and so could be slightly fatigued.

Lamia goes on the road to face Panetolikos and the Fthiotida side will be keen to secure maximum points as they bid to challenge for the much-desired sixth place (the only play-offs spot that is still realistically in contention).

Panserraikos hosts an out-of-form Volos side that has lost its last five league games, with the Serres club hoping to continue their opponents’ troubles as well as bag a third straight win.
