On Saturday, January 27, 2024, the Pan Lemnian organisation marked its 40th anniversary, commemorating four decades of efforts to unite and connect individuals of Lemnian descent across Victoria, NSW, and South Australia.

Hosted this year by the Lemnian Community of Victoria, the annual celebration brought together over 300 attendees, including Lemnians and their friends.

The event was a resounding success, filled with lively dancing, delectable food, and festive drinks that lasted well into the early hours of the morning.

A standout feature of the celebration was the performance by the 40-member NSW Lemnos Club Dance Group, showcasing both traditional Lemnos Island dances and a modern repertoire.

The group’s outstanding performance garnered commendation for its members.

“The Lemnians from Sydney and Adelaide are coming to Melbourne,” highlighted the Lemnian Community of Victoria Ltd on Facebook regarding the upcoming event-meeting, which will also involve the establishment of the Lemnian Youth at the Federation level.

Mr Spiros Hrabanis, who has been involved in Lemnian affairs in Australia for decades and has held various positions on administrative boards, reminded in his social media post about how the formation of the Federation (PanLemnian Organisation of Australia) was decided 40 years ago.

As he pointed out, “In 1984, during a meeting in Melbourne, in the rooms of the Lemnian Community Club of Victoria on Armstrong Street in Middle Park.”

During his speech, Petros Skapetis, President of the Lemnian Community of Victoria, expressed his pride in representing the community and lauded his board for orchestrating such a successful event.

He eagerly anticipated continuing this annual tradition for another 40 years. Looking ahead, the Pan Lemnian Event for 2025 is scheduled to take place in South Australia.
