According to information provided to Neos Kosmos, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, will undertake an official visit to Australia next November.

Her visit will reciprocate the efforts to strengthen the relationship between the two countries made last year by the Governor-General of Australia, David Hurley.

“The Greeks of Australia, with their dynamic presence in the political, social, economic, and cultural life of your friendly country, strengthen the relations between our two countries,” the President of the Hellenic Republic had stated at the time.

Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has also expressed the intention to travel to Australia.

Ms Sakellaropoulou’s visit will take place a few weeks after the visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch, Mr Bartholomew.

According to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, the Ecumenical Patriarch will honour with his presence the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Archdiocese.

He will arrive in Australia on Friday, October 4 and depart on Saturday, the 19th of the same month.

During his stay in Australia, two liturgies will be held. One in Sydney, on Sunday, October 6 at the International Convention Centre (ICC), and one in Melbourne, on Sunday, October 13 at the Margaret Court Arena.

During 2024, it is expected that more Greek politicians and officials will visit Australia to honour the 100 years of the Archdiocese’s establishment.

According to unconfirmed reports, Deputy Minister of the Interior, Theodoros Livanios is also slated to visit Australia for the 25 March celebrations.
