Greek Australian singer, songwriter and dance music performer VASSY has received her first Song Writers Platinum Plaque from the National Music Publishers’ Association for her 2014 hit BAD, in collaboration with David Guetta and Showtek.

The 14x platinum hit song saw the Darwin-born Vassy Karagiorgos join the ‘APRA AMCOS’ one billion streams list in 2020, and in 2022, the song passed two billion streams.

Talking about the award on her social media and a statement sent to Neos Kosmos VASSY said it was an honour.

“I have received other Plaques before, but getting this Gem 💎 is Rare!!”

“Such an honour 😭 to be acknowledged. The timing was serendipitous as it was the same day my new LP Supreme released.”

With this album VASSY is taking a step back to her musical beginnings, blending a variety of styles that highlight her dynamic vocal skills and strong song writing.

The seven-track album turns away from her dance music roots, offering everything from reggaetón beats to heartfelt ballads.

“It was so much fun making this album with Grammy Hit producer Tim Myers (One Republic) with Label Position Music,” she said.

“It was a chance for me to go back some of my original musical roots creating a fusion of quirky eclectic songs.”

Recently she made history by becoming the first woman to win the EDMA ICON Award.

Australian fans can catch VASSY at the upcoming BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival in her hometown, Darwin, in May.
