Joshua Gotsis, a 23-year-old plumber from NSW, has been granted bail in the Supreme Court over serious drug supply charges related to his alleged involvement in a dial-a-dealer operation in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire. The court heard that Gotsis was involved in supplying 1.2kg of cocaine as part of the operation, which operated from July to December last year.

New allegations have surfaced, suggesting that Gotsis transported over $1 million worth of drugs, including 6kg of methamphetamine, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The syndicate allegedly used a “central control phone” to send mass messages to 1900 contacts, with buyers placing orders and runners delivering the drugs.

Gotsis was described as the main phone operator for the syndicate, with another individual assisting him. He allegedly delivered the cash takings to the alleged leader of the syndicate, Mohammed El-Sammak, who would then pay Gotsis and the other individual.

Despite opposition from the Crown prosecutor, citing the seriousness of the charges and Gotsis’ alleged role, bail was granted.

Gotsis, who has no prior criminal record, will be required to live with his grandparents, report to police daily, and adhere to strict conditions.

The case against Gotsis will continue in the Downing Centre Local Court.
