A Greek Legends tribute concert, now in its third year on tour, will grace Sydney’s stage this April, promising an unforgettable experience.
From Vangelis’ melodies to Cat Stevens’ ballads, and the unforgettable performances of Nana Mouskouri, Demis Roussos, George Michael, and Maria Callas, more than 50 musicians, singers, and dancers will come together to pay tribute to the legendary Greek figures of the 20th Century, showcasing their significant impact on pop, rock, and classical music today.
Under the artistic direction of Penny Pavlakis and the musical direction of Manolis Michalakis for Greek songs and Dylan Weberbauer for English songs, this tribute features a stellar lineup of performers and highlights compositions by esteemed artists such as Theodorakis, Kazantzidis, Marinella, Dalaras, and Alexiou, among others.
With lyre instruments resonating with melodies from both the northern and southern regions of Greece, “The 8 Bouzouki Spectacular,” takes centre stage, complemented by the performances of the “The Cretan and Pontian War dancers,” Australia’s premier vocal ensemble, “The Ten Sopranos,” and the Greek Legends Orchestra.
Musical highlights will feature iconic songs such as “Chariots of Fire,” “Peace Train,” “Ruby my Love,” “My Friend the Wind,” “Forever and Ever,” “Freedom,” “Careless Whisper,” “White Rose of Athens,” “Casta Diva,” “La Wally,” “Omorphy Poly,” “Anixe Petra,” “Zorba the Greek,” and many more beloved classics.
