A 19-year-old Adelaide man will be sentenced in April after pleading guilty to the aggravated assault of a security guard at the Noarlunga Centre Interchange.

Jayden James Spakianos, from Morphett Vale appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates court last week, where he admitted to stabbing the security guard on August 17 2023.

According to The Advertiser, Spakianos denied the allegations last year but has now confessed to the crime while pleading guilty last month to a random stabbing at the Noarlunga Centre Interchange that left an innocent bystander with a collapsed lung.

A court previously heard the victim, Scott Wimshurst, was taunted by Spakianos and another male.

“The defendant and the other male were drug-affected, yelling at each other, then stared at the victim,” the police prosecutor said.

“The defendant then (allegedly) approaches the victim, saying, ‘I will kill this guy’, before stabbing him in the back”.

Spakianos was opposed all forms of bail in court last September, with the police prosecutor saying it was the second time the then 18-year-old had stabbed someone that year.

“He poses a significant risk to the community … he has shown he can’t be relied upon to comply with any bail conditions set by the court.”

At this point, he denied the allegations with his defence counsel saying “there are significant investigations that need to be undertaken but also by the prosecution who are obtaining CCTV.”

“Mr Spakianos has no history as an adult.”

Spakianos will be sentenced in the Nunga Court in April.
