Renowned Greek actor Ilias Logothetis has sadly passed away at the age of 85. He was best known for his comedic roles in television and cinema, captivating audiences with his passion, honesty, and ethos in interpreting significant characters on stage and screen.

Born on April 15, 1939, in Lefkada, Logothetis initially had aspirations in opera, studying Political Science at Panteion University before his love for theater drew him to the Art Theater of Karolos Koun. Graduating in 1967, he went on to become a prominent figure in Greek theater, making his film debut in 1970’s “Babylonia.”

Throughout his career, Logothetis collaborated with renowned theater groups and directors, including Giannis Fertis-Xenia Kalogeropoulou and Kakia Analyti-Kostas Rigopoulos. He gained widespread acclaim, particularly for his performance in Harold Pinter’s “The Dead Zone,” receiving praise for his portrayal of Spooner.

Logothetis’ versatility extended beyond theater, as he excelled in television and film, earning accolades such as the Thessaloniki Film Festival’s Best Actor award for his roles in “Babylonia” and “The Swallow’s Children.” His last appearance was in the series “Alter Ego: Nemesis.”

A beloved figure both on and off the stage, Logothetis’ legacy is one of humility, humour, and intellectual depth. His passing is mourned by his family, friends, and fans, leaving a void in the Greek artistic community.
