The spirit of Greece emerged in Point Cook with a Greek Family Fun Day at the Point Cook Pop-Up Park, last Sunday.

This celebration of Greek heritage saw Greek-Australians share their cultural background with the broader community, including cuisine, music and dance. The festivities commenced with the Greek and Australian National Anthems. DJ Pete infused the air with Greek melodies, igniting the atmosphere with energy.

While the adults revelled in the music and ambience, the younger attendees were treated to various kids’ activities. Mini-Olympic games organised by Ready Steady Go Kids and workshops on painting Greek Easter eggs and crafting Greek flags ensured that children remained entertained and immersed in the day’s festivities.

Market stalls adorned with Greek treasures saw visitors explore and indulge in cultural experiences. From exquisite candles by Mataki Filaxto for Greek Easter to the irresistible loukoumades and frappe served by local favourite Honey Dee Loukoumades, there was no shortage of delights to savour.

Characters in the guise of Greek Gods and Goddesses, Zeus, Poseidon, and Athena, roamed the park.

The performances of traditional Greek dance stole the show. Afrodite from DanceIt-Fitness dazzled the audience with her infectious enthusiasm. At the same time, students from the MANASIS School of Greek Dance and Culture enthralled the audiences with their choreography, costumes, and passion. As the day drew to a close, live music from Agape Music, featuring Aggie Gioftsis, Dean Georgalas, and Byron Triantafillidis, provided a fitting finale.
