As the world prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day, the Fairfield Bowling Club in Melbourne is gearing up for a unique and empowering event to honour inspiring women from diverse backgrounds. Scheduled for March 9, 2024, at 2 pm, the event promises an afternoon of insightful conversations and celebration at 125 Gillies St Fairfield.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with leading women such as Jenny Mikakos GAICD, the former Victorian Minister with over three decades of experience in public administration, law, and health and community services advocacy.

Also joining the line-up is Cr. Emily Dimitriadis, a pharmacist, migration lawyer, and social justice advocate committed to empowering migrant and refugee communities. Another Greek , Maria Dimopoulos AM, the chair of Safe and Equal, will bring her expertise in championing diversity and gender equality, particularly for migrant and refugee women.

Others like Mursal Sadat, an Afghan Women’s Soccer Player whose journey exemplifies resilience and determination in challenging societal norms.

Dr Judy Tang, VMC Commissioner and advocate for multiculturalism and LGBTIQA+ communities, will also be present to share her insights and experiences. Additionally, Hana Assafiri OAM, the owner of the Moroccan Soup Bar is known for her efforts trying to remove barriers for women, will grace the event with her presence.

The celebration is about more than honouring achievements and contributing to a meaningful cause. The ticket cost of $15 includes donating to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and supporting vital research and awareness programs.
