The Pancretan Association of Melbourne and Victoria joined organised a backgammon competition at the Pancretan Members Pavilion in Cathies Lane Wantirna South last Sunday.

The event attracted 60 participants for the initial round, promising an exciting tournament ahead.

The competition, set to span several weeks, offers a grand prize of a return trip to Greece for the ultimate victor.

Kostas Paterakis, the tournament’s organiser, expressed his enthusiasm for the event’s kickoff.

“An amazing beginning on what I’m sure will be a wonderful tournament, Paterakis said.

“All games were played in a fair and amicable manner creating an amazing atmosphere throughout the day. I look forward to the weeks ahead and matchups, to what will be a thrilling conclusion to crown the 2024 Backgammon Champion.”

The tournament, with the support of 3XY Radio, will resume on Sunday, 7 April at 10am, promising more intense matches as players vie for the title of 2024 Backgammon Champion.
