The Hellenic Medical Society of Australia (HMSA) convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 23, 2024, at the Greek Community of Melbourne.

The event brought together members for a Lenten meal and networking opportunities before the official proceedings began.

During the AGM, key office bearers, including President Associate Professor Marinis Pirpiris, Secretary Dr. Arthur Kokkinias, and Treasurer Associate Professor Arthur Nasis, delivered updates and reports. They highlighted the successful events of the past years, such as the conference and gala ball, and discussed upcoming educational initiatives.

The HMSA welcomed new board members, Dr. Athina Pirpiris, Dr. Con Giannellis, and Professor Dennis Velakoulis, while also expressing gratitude to retiring board members for their dedicated service.

The evening’s highlight was a presentation by HMSA member Associate Professor Vicki Kotsirilos on “Medicinal Cannabis – what is all the rage?” Her informative talk sparked a lively discussion and Q&A session among attendees.

Following the formalities, members had the opportunity to network and continue their conversations from the presentation.

The event showcased the HMSA’s commitment to providing its members with valuable educational and networking opportunities.

Medical doctors interested in joining the HMSA are encouraged to contact the society for membership information.
