This Sunday, the Greek Community of Melbourne are holding a book launch for ‘Last Tango in Alexandria’, which examines the work of Greek poet Constantine Cavafy.

Written by Professor Michalis Tsianikas, the book tackles the foundational nationalist narrative and tussle between Hellenism and Christianity.

Both contradict each other when compared, so the seminar will look at how that is reflected in Cavafy’s poetry.

The book will be launched by Director of the Research Unit in Public Cultures and Professor in the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne, Professor Nikos Papastergiadis.

The launch will be conducted in both Greek and English and guests can purchase the book on the day.

When: Sunday May 12, 3pm (Doors open 2.30pm)

Where: The Greek Centre | Mezzanine, 168 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
