The Elderly Association of Agios Panteleimonas in Dandenong hosted a gathering at the community hall adjacent to the church to honour special members following Mother’s Day.

Katholiki Zafeiri, 101 years old and originally from Siyah of Rhodes, who arrived in Australia in 1954, was recognised for her dedication to raising three children and twelve grandchildren.

Anna Apostolou, a 63-year-old from Crete, who arrived in Australia in 1966, was also celebrated for her loving care of two children and four grandchildren.

Both women were warmly greeted and celebrated for their motherly love and devotion.

During the event, Father Antonios Krinas shared a touching poem titled ‘The Mother,’ written by author and poetess Maria Papala from Mytilene, further adding to the emotional atmosphere of the occasion.

President Giannis Dokos expressed gratitude to all participants, with special thanks extended to President Stefanos Karamoschos, Public Relations Officer Kostas Alaveras, and Anastasios Fotakis for their exceptional organisation and service. He concluded by wishing all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day, making the event a memorable celebration of motherhood and community spirit.

The event featured an array of mezethes, drinks, music, and dance, bringing joy to all attendees.
