Someone has changed South Melbourne’s FC’s name on its Wikipedia page to ‘South Türkiye’ in what is likely a prank.

There are four instances where South Melbourne have had their name changed in text, believed to be five earlier, as the club have been informed and are currently on to fixing the issue.

Two instances in the general text: “2012 saw the return of South Türkiye to their home ground, now known as Lakeside Stadium.”

The other about the club’s past A-League aspirations.

“In June 2008, South Türkiye sent a letter of interest to join the league…”

In the references, a Fox Sports article and Neos Kosmos article have seen their titles changed to say ‘South Türkiye’.

South Melbourne currently sit atop the table in the NPL.

A few weeks ago, they defeated Turkish based side Hume City 1-0.

This Wednesday they and the other club’s involved will find out who they play in the next phase of the Dockerty Cup and National Round of the Australia Cup.
