The Panagia Soumela Melbourne community gathered at their Thomastown club hall last Sunday for their ‘Biggest Morning Tea’ fundraiser in support of the Cancer Council.

The event featured raffles, games, live music, and dancing, all aimed at raising funds for cancer research and patient support.

Attendees participated in various games, including tea-trivia, coin toss, and a word search designed to engage children.

Combined with online donations the gathering raised a total of $2691, more than five times the club’s original goal.

All money raised was donated directly to the Cancer Council, contributing to their work in cancer research and patient care.

The event was made possible by the volunteers and sponsors, whose efforts were acknowledged and appreciated by the Panagia Soumela Melbourne leadership group.

“We couldn’t have done it without the help of our volunteers and sponsors, and we are so grateful and proud of the community that came together to raise these funds and help make a difference,” said Olga Antoniadis, a key organiser of the event.

Panagia Soumela Melbourne’s next event, the annual Dekapentavgoustos Dinner Dance, is scheduled for Saturday, August 17 promising a night full of dancing, live music, and performances to celebrate one of Orthodoxy’s biggest holidays.
