Members of the Manasis School of Traditional Dance from Australia recently visited the City Hall of Naousa as part of their “Destination Homeland” project.

The initiative aims to connect the school’s members with their heritage by participating in cultural events and exploring historical sites across Greece.

Led by director Dimosthenis Manasis, the delegation met with Mayor Nikos Koutsoyiannis on Friday.

They were also welcomed by Deputy Mayor of Culture, Vicky Daniilidou, and Deputy Mayor of Cleaning, Environment, and Municipal Police, Grigoris Samaras.

During their time in Naousa, the group visited a traditional costume workshop, local dance clubs, and several historical landmarks.

The school has cultivated a deep interest in the dances and cultural traditions of Naousa, partly due to a strong network of friends and relatives from the area.

Mayor Koutsoyiannis expressed that the visit would be a unique and memorable experience for the visitors, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

He also extended an invitation for the group to return during the Carnival season to witness the distinctive Genitsaroi and Boules event.
