The unexpected death of Aikaterini Salaha has plunged her close relatives and friends into mourning.
The wife of well-known businessman and president of the Labor Union “Dimokritos,” Thanasis Salahas, died after slipping in her garden and hitting her head. She was unable to break her fall.
Salahas is the third person of Greek descent to have died after slipping in their garden.
“It was completely unexpected. She was in very good health,” her devastated husband told Neos Kosmos while finding the strength to advise elderly individuals to be cautious, even at home.
On Thursday morning, Thanasis Salahas was at his business when their grandson informed him that “something bad happened.”
He rushed home to find police and an ambulance, but it was too late.
The tragic news has deeply saddened the community, as the Salahas family is well-known and respected.
The couple had three children and seven grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.
