PRONIA are once again offering the ‘All about Dads’ program, following its successful launch last year.
The parenting program is aimed at new dads with children aged zero to four years old.
This free program will start on Monday August 5 and will run for a month.
Each session comprises of informal discussion, information sharing and a 30-minute group personal training.
The aim is to offer support, the opportunity to talk with other dads in similar circumstances and to encourage discussion about fatherhood and parenting. The group personal training is also an important element of the sessions as dads are given the time and space to not only look after their physical health but also reduce stress and tension.
Becoming a parent is a universal, transcultural experience that unites and becoming a father is a lifechanging journey with positive as well as challenging emotions which can cause pressure on relationships.
Adding in factors such as sleep deprivation, varying cultural perspectives on parenting, household and occupational duties, financial and work-related concerns, social or physical seclusion, family issues, and other related matters, it can create a range of emotional and physical difficulties.
‘All about Dads’ offers a safe and inclusive platform for fathers to establish connections and exchange their experiences and perspectives. It provides a nonjudgmental environment for sharing diverse viewpoints and engaging in discussions with other fathers while exploring new strategies for overcoming challenges.
Program sessions include the following themes:
- navigating fatherhood
- cultivating positive relationships
- balancing professional and family life
- coping with stress
The program will be facilitated by PRONIA’s Counsellor, Theodore Davoutis at the Clayton Community Centre.
It will run every Monday for four weeks from 6pm – 7.30pm starting August 5.
The group personal training segment will be run by a professional personal trainer.
