Father Emmanuel Lykopantis, the priest of St. John’s Parish in Carlton, has been honoured by Victoria Police with the Police Service Medal for his 11 years of dedicated service as a priest to the police officers in the Moonee Ponds, Flemington, Avondale Heights, Fawkner, Brunswick, and North Melbourne police stations.

Father Emmanuel was also awarded for supporting two more specialised units: the Air Wing at Essendon Airport and the RPDAS (State Highway Patrol) at the Dawson St. Brunswick complex.

He was recognised for his supportive services as a counselor and spiritual guide, addressing the psycho-spiritual needs of both staff and officers.

The Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police, Shane Patton, presented the medal to Father Emmanuel in the presence of the police administration, including the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Hon. Anthony Carbines M.P.

This recognition was part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the establishment of the Police Chaplaincy Service in Victoria that took place earlier this week.
