Fourteen people had reportedly been arrested after a fight broke out on a Greek islands’ passenger ferry.

The ship, carrying 717 passengers, was on a three-hour journey from the island of Tinos to Rafina. A brawl erupted when two men exchanged blows on Tuesday.

The fight is said to have started when one passenger asked a group to lower their voices.

Greek media have also reported that passengers claim one of the men had a firearm.

The captain of Golden Star Ferries Super Express even turned the vessel back to Tinos.

Coastguard officials said police and port authorities questioned a total of 14 passengers, including three children, who were later released.

The other 11 faced charges of obstruction of public transport according to Protothema.

During the initial search by authorities, a fake gun was reportedly found while one passenger said there was another gun. Two replica guns ended up being found.

Tinos is known as a pilgrimage island, and every year on August 15, thousands travel to the church in the centre of the main town for Panagia Soumela.

This fight on the ferry isn’t the first story of this nature, as similar incidents occur almost every year.
