Oakleigh Grammar’s Learning Enhancement Team has earned a major honour after being announced as a highly rated candidate for the 2024 ‘Australian Teacher Aide of the Year’ awards.

The School, in an official statement, remarked: “We are extremely proud to recognise the Learning Enhancement Team at the ‘Australian Teacher Aide of the Year’ awards. This accolade underlines our commitment to providing excellent educational support to all our students.”

Established in 2018, the awards aim to highlight the often unseen heroes of the education system.

Teaching aides play a key role in supporting teachers, assisting students with different learning needs and helping foster a positive and supportive learning environment in schools across the nation.

“This success is a result of the dedication and passion of our team members, who work tirelessly to ensure they promote academic success and personal growth,” the school’s statement said.

Oakleigh Grammar’s Learning Enhancement Team is made up of experienced and dedicated teachers who offer specialist support to students with different learning needs.

It consists of team members Efpraxia, Emily, Georgia, Kristen, Maddie, Maria, Nasima, Olympia, Phillipos, Susie, Zoe, Maria and Elena, under the guidance of Head of Learning Enhancement, Amy Lewis.

They collectively use their experience and knowledge to ensure each student receives the necessary individualised attention they need to thrive.

“Our commitment is to continue to provide world-class support to all our students, regardless of the final outcome of the awards,” the school’s statement concluded.

The winners of the awards will be announced on Thursday 5 September during Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week.
