Miltiadis Tentoglou, the two-time Olympic gold medallist in long jump, claimed first place at the Diamond League in Lausanne, Switzerland, with a stellar performance of 8.06 meters.

Tentoglou was initially in third place, achieving his best jump of 7.97 meters until his fifth attempt.

This jump (-0.5) allowed him to advance to the final round, as only the top three athletes are given the chance for a final attempt in the Diamond League.

On his sixth and final jump, Tentoglou soared to victory, marking his 12th consecutive win this year. This triumph also secured his participation in the Diamond League final, set to take place in Brussels on September 13 and 14.

Talking to the press, Tentoglou said: “For me it was very difficult. The conditions were not the best for jumping. I had a problem. A visual problem (..) behind the board of the long jump there is a very bright light. I’m a very visual guy..,” he added explaining that he focuses on the goal visually in order for his body to reach the landing point.

“I had a visual problem attacking. I couldn’t attack and jump far for that reason.”
