Excavation at the Temple of Apollo at Mantra Despotikos and on the island of Tsimintiri finished up recently, lasting six weeks from May 20 to June 28.
The works were focused on the buildings that are outside the ancient monastery in the area between it and the coast.
The investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs building that was identified in 2023 continued, with the building dating back to the second half of the 6th century BC.

Based on the architectural details, at least two architectural phases of the MN building can be recognised.
It was found that most of the buildings that had been discovered previously, and were considered independent, actually consist of two large building complexes.

These stretch along the southern side of the island towards the Windy Bay and with a direct view to the shrine at the Despotiki.
The dimensions, its architectural form, spatial relationship with the winding bay and the type of findings indicates it was a port facility that also served as storage of products.
The burial was also found to be included within the complex, suggesting that it was used as storage space without people knowing it was a burial site.
