The Cypriot Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) has officially selected its representative for next year’s Eurovision in Basel, choosing Theo Evan to sing for the country.

Evangelos Theodorou (Ευάγγελος Θεοδώρου), who goes by the stage name of Theo Evan, was internally selected by CyBC as their singer for Eurovision 2025.

Evan was born in Nicosia and has been a singer and dancer since the age of seven, and a songwriter since his teens.

He took dancing classes, participated in school choirs and acted in a range of theatre performances and talent events throughout Cyprus during his early years.

Following his graduation from The English School in Nicosia, the artist moved to the US to pursue music and performance at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

He released his debut song “The Wall” in 2021 and has amassed a solid list of singles since then, with Evan drawing inspiration from numerous artists like reggaeton, Stromae, and Michael Jackson.

Evan also featured as an extra in the popular American TV show “Euphoria”.

His song will be released at a later date.

Cyprus will hope Evan can bring home their first ever Eurovision win.

Their closest result came in 2018 when Eleni Foureira finished 2nd with Fuego.

The country has performed strongly in the last two editions with Australian singers Andrew Lambrou and Silia Kapsis each making the final and finishing in 12th and 15th respectively.
