Homegrown tennis star Thanasi Kokkinakis has been confirmed as the first player for the Adelaide International 2025 tournament.

From January 6 to 11, tennis fans will flock to The Drive for the prestigious WTA 500 and ATP 250 combined event, which will feature 148 of the world’s top tennis talents in singles and doubles competitions.

In 2024, the tournament saw impressive ticket sales, with 30,000 fans attending throughout the event and record attendance for Family Day. The excitement continues to grow as the 2025 edition is set to expand its popular Pinky Flat experience along Adelaide’s Riverbank, offering live entertainment, a family zone, food trucks, and more.

Tickets for South Australia’s premier international tennis event are now available via Ticketmaster, with prices starting at just $10. Children can attend select sessions for free, gaining access to the family zone, exclusive bars, entertainment, and thrilling tennis action.

The Adelaide International marks the beginning of an action-packed 2025 sports calendar for South Australia, which will also feature the 25th anniversary of the Santos Tour Down Under, LIV Golf Adelaide, and the AFL Gather Round.

“The Adelaide International offers tennis fans and event goers not just epic tennis action but showcases why South Australia excels at hosting world-class events,” South Australia’s Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison, said.

Bettison added that the inclusion of Kokkinakis, a fan favorite, will undoubtedly boost local support. “We know he’ll bring the noise with his strong Aussie fan base.”

Tournament Director Alicia Molik also shared her excitement about Kokkinakis’ involvement and the upcoming tournament.

“Thanasi is well-loved by fans in South Australia, and we’re delighted to have him back for 2025,” she said. Molik emphasized the tournament’s value in inspiring the next generation of young players, offering them a chance to watch their heroes up close.
