The women’s team of Heidelberg United is the new queen of Victorian football.
Alexandros triumphed over Preston Lions with a 3–2 score in a final full of spectacle, incredible personal battles, and five beautiful goals.
The women of both teams performed at a high level, filling with pride the roughly 3,000 football fans who flocked to Bundoora to watch the grand final.
Although Heidelberg United took the lead, they found themselves heading into halftime trailing 2–1. In the second half, however, they regained control of the game and ultimately celebrated a great victory thanks to two fantastic goals late in the match.
Miyata was the MVP of the grand final.
It was a historic day for the women’s division of Alexandros, which brought joy and pride to the thousands of supporters of the great Greek-Australian club.
The “yellow-blacks” have built a very strong team that is getting stronger every day and has all the makings to become one of the most successful teams in domestic women’s football!
