Neither PAOK nor Panathinaikos was able to seize control in the first derby clash of the season as the two heavyweights were made to share the spoils.

The Thessaloniki giants and the Greens settled for a 0-0 draw on Monday morning (AEST) in the fourth round of the Greek Super League, with each side missing crucial chances to secure a statement victory.

The “Trifylli” had their best opportunity to score on the stroke of half time when winger Facundo Pellistri took a shot from just outside the six-yard box, but the Uruguayan sent the ball over the crossbar.

Captain Stefan Schwab tested goalkeeper Bartlomiej on a couple of occasions himself, with the Greens shot stopper keeping the ball out each time.

Olympiacos was unable to capitalise on PAOK dropping points as they failed to penetrate Panetolikos’ defence in their own goalless stalemate at “Karaiskakis” Stadium

It was a true missed chance for the “red-whites” to go into outright first place, something which they will no doubt be disappointed about.

OFI stunned Aris with a 3-2 home win to hand the Thessaloniki outfit their first loss of the season.

The Cretans went in front in the 21st minute after striker Andrew Jung converted his penalty attempt, and they managed to double it in the second half through centre half Vasilis Lambropoulos (57′).

Aris marksman Loren Moron scored a spot-kick of his own (68′), bringing his team temporarily back into the fold before OFI substitute Eddie Salcedo restored their two-goal lead (82′).

Moron found the back of the net one more time from the penalty spot in the 88th minute, though the strike came in vain as Aris suffered.

Atromitos secured their maiden win of the campaign after defeating Asteras Tripolis 1-2 away on Sunday evening.

The Peristeriotes started the contest very well as they found the back of the net just six minutes in via a headed effort from defender Mansur.

Striker Carlitos, who provided the assist for the first goal, then grabbed one of his own in the 23rd minute to double their advantage.

Midfielder Julian Bartolio halved the deficit before the break with his penalty (42′), though it was not enough for the Arcadians to grab a result from the game.

Levadiakos rescued a point in an impressive come-from-behind 2-2 away draw with Panserraikos that ensured both clubs remain at the bottom of the table.

The Serres-based side had the ascendency going into the break after scoring twice, courtesy of winger Juan Salazar (27′) and an own goal from midfielder Enis Cokaj (44′)

The “blue-greens” emerged from half time with a point to prove and they got themselves back into the clash with strikes from winger Guillermo Balzi (55′) and substitute striker Jose Romo Perez (75′).

The visitors managed to protect the draw even after midfielder Maximiliano Moreira was sent off for a second yellow in the 79th minute.

Panserraikos will be pleased with getting their first point of the season, though will lament the missed opportunity to have secured the victory.

Lamia and Kallithea shared the points after playing out a 0-0 draw at “Athanasios Diakos” ground.

AEK will face Volos at home in the remaining fixture of the round on Tuesday morning.
