The Mytilenian Brotherhood of Sydney and NSW is hosting the annual Sardella Day celebration today September 22, at Mytilenian House in Canterbury. Starting at 12.30pm, the event continues the proud tradition of honouring the sardines caught in the renowned bays of Gera and Kalloni, on the island of Lesvos.
Attendees will enjoy sardines prepared in three popular styles—BBQ, fried, and oven-baked—offering a full culinary experience. A variety of traditional mezze dishes will also be served to complement the meal.
Alongside the food, the event promises lively entertainment with live performances from Ioannis Kelligiannis, Thanasis Pylarinos, and Nikos Filippatos.
A special dance performance by the Sydney Greek Dancing School will add to the festive atmosphere.
This event mirrors the spirit of similar celebrations held on Lesvos, where multi-day festivals strengthen the island’s cultural ties to its fishing heritage.
