St John’s College participated in the #folkGRooves festival, hosted by the Cultural Centre of Florinians “Aristotelis,” showcasing the talent and dedication of its students in a celebration of Greek culture. The event, dedicated to the youth of Melbourne’s Greek community, featured an array of traditional performances that delighted the audience.
Kicking off the festival, the St John’s College band, directed by Panteli Kresta, delivered a medley of Greek folk songs. Their performance set the tone for the evening, earning an enthusiastic applause from the crowd and highlighting the musical skills of the students.
In addition to the band’s success, the school’s dance group also shone brightly, performing a series of traditional dances from the island of Imvros.
Under the direction of Mr Athanasios Thanos and Ms Emmanouela Giannoulidou, the students moved gracefully in traditional costumes, captivating the audience with their energy and passion for Greek heritage.
St John’s College students left a lasting impression on both the audience and the broader Greek community.
