The first-ever Multicultural Youth Awards were launched at Parliament House, celebrating the achievements of young changemakers from diverse backgrounds across the region.

With 200 nominations from across the state, the event showcased the dedication of young leaders tackling key issues, from social justice to community advocacy.

It was a momentous occasion, bringing together community leaders, young advocates, and supporters to honour the contributions of multicultural youth who are driving positive change in their communities.

Prominent speakers, including Yusuf Liban, Director of Multicultural Youth Group; Hon. Natalie Suleyman, Minister for Youth; Liana Buchanan, Commissioner for Young People; and Lauren Mullings from Multicultural Arts Victoria, addressed the audience, focusing on themes of resilience, perseverance, and the power of youth leadership.

The speakers underscored the critical role young people play in addressing social challenges and building stronger, more inclusive communities.

The evening also featured cultural performances, allowing participants to connect and exchange ideas in a vibrant, supportive environment.

Although there were no Greek-Australian winners this year, the event highlighted the importance of promoting diversity and inclusion.

Local leaders encouraged the Greek community to take part in future editions of the awards by nominating young people who are making an impact.
