Two Oakleigh Grammar Year 11 students, George and Natasha, recently took the global stage at the 2024 Round Square International Conference, held in Colombia during the September school holidays.

Accompanied by Principal Mark Robertson and Round Square Facilitator Rebecca Bettiol, the students joined over 1,000 participants from 50 schools worldwide to explore themes of leadership, sustainability, and global citizenship.

The conference, themed ‘Blooming from the Past’, invited students and educators from across the globe to reflect on how historical lessons can inspire future innovation.

George and Natasha took part in workshops, discussions, and cultural activities designed to foster international collaboration and personal growth, while developing valuable leadership skills.

At Oakleigh Grammar’s Term 4 assembly, the students shared their experiences by reciting a Spanish poem reflecting the migrant journeys from Greece to Australia, mirroring the experiences of many who sought new beginnings in Australia.

Looking ahead to 2025, Oakleigh Grammar students will have more opportunities to attend Round Square conferences both in Australia and internationally, further enriching their educational journey.
