The Greek Film Society Sydney will screen the acclaimed documentary ’90 Years of PAOK: Nostalgia for the Future’ for die hard fans and anyone interested in the history of Greek football.

Directed by the late Nikos Triantafillidis (1966–2016), the award-winning film chronicles the 90-year history of the famous football club Pan-Thessalonian Athletic Club of Constantinopolitans (PAOK), founded in 1926 by refugees from Constantinople, now Istanbul.

The documentary promises to be more than just a story of football, as it delves into themes of identity, cultural difference, and the refugee experience, offering a window into the history and spirit of Thessaloniki and Northern Greece.

Recognised with the Hellenic Association of Film Critics’ Best Film Award in 2016, ’90 Years of PAOK’ captures the evolution of sport and its intersection with broader societal change.
