The Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW (ECCNSW) will honour its 50th anniversary in 2025, with a gala dinner heading a series of events to be held throughout next year.
The ECCNSW has advocated for multiculturalism and fostered social cohesion across New South Wales since its foundation in 1975, representing and supporting migrant and refugee communities for half a century.
The organisation will celebrate its major anniversary with various events that honour diversity and achievements of New South Wales’ multicultural communities, reflecting on its journey over the last 50 years and exploring the future of multiculturalism in Australia.
A major highlight of their calendar of initiatives for next year is a gala dinner on 22 May, which will be hosted at Le Montage in Lilyfield.
Peter Doukas, Chair of ECCNSW, expressed his pride for the organisation as it heads into its 50th year working for the benefit of the state’s ethnic communities.
“The ECCNSW has been at the forefront of creating a more inclusive and culturally enriched society, and we look forward to celebrating this milestone with the communities we serve,” Doukas said in a press release.
Mark Karras, CEO of ECCNSW, echoed Doukas’ sentiments while noting that it is a great way to look back on the past as well as look to the future.
“Our 50th anniversary is a time to celebrate the resilience, strength, and contributions of our multicultural communities,” Karras said.
“It is also a moment to look ahead at the opportunities and challenges we face in continuing our work as the state-wide peak body representing multicultural communities in New South Wales.”
The ECCNSW noted that full details on all the anniversary events will be made available on its website.
