The Thessaloniki giants managed to avoid a costly draw as they escaped with maximum points in their match with Panetolikos, creating a temporary logjam at the top of the ladder in the process.

PAOK defeated Panetolikos 0-1 away on Monday morning (AEDT) in the Greek Super League’s 15th round to join AEK and Olympiacos on 30 points, with the Piraeus giants hoping to quickly regain outright first when they play Kallithea tomorrow.

The Agrinio side squandered a golden chance to take the lead in the 23rd minute when forward Andrija Majdevac struck his penalty attempt wide of the left post.

PAOK eventually made them pay for the miss in the 87th minute, with midfielder Mady Camara heading the ball in from a corner to secure the three points.

Panathinaikos sealed a 0-1 away win over Levadiakos to make it three straight victories in the league.

The “Trifylli” found what proved to be the winner on the hour mark after captain Fotis Ioannidis guided the ball in with a corner header, with the goal representing the striker’s first in the league this campaign.

Aris has gotten off to a winning start under new coach Marinos Ouzounidis, downing Panserraikos 1-0 at “Kleanthis Vikelidis” Stadium with an 85th minute strike from winger Alvaro Zamora.

The Thessaloniki side finished the game with just ten players on the field after forward Shapi Suleymanov copped a second yellow card in the 90+6th minute.

AEK struck late to ensure a 0-1 away success over Lamia at “Athanasios Diakos” ground on Sunday morning, with centre half Gerasimos Mitoglou’s 76th minute corner header keeping Enosi in close proximity of the league leaders.

Both Atromitos and OFI failed to break through the other’s defence as they were forced to settle for a goalless draw in Peristeri.

Volos scored an important 2-1 home triumph against Asteras Tripolis to extend the Arcadians’ losing streak in the league to five games.

The Magnesia outfit took the lead in the 51st minute when midfielder Jasin-Amin Assehnoun delivered a ball into the box that was left untouched as it eventually curled into the goal.

The hosts then made it two after a mistake at the back saw playmaker Lucas Villafanez steal the ball and pass it to winger Maximiliano Comba, who then finished it into the back of the net (68′).

The visitors got one back in the 88th minute with a lovely grounded effort into the bottom left corner by forward Chidera Micheal Okoh, though that was the only goal they could find as Volos held on to seal all three points.

Olympiacos faces Kallithea away on Tuesday morning in the game’s final match of the round, and they will have to win to once more move three points clear in top spot.
