The Whittlesea Multicultural Community Council (WMCC) has stepped up in the fight against cancer by donating funds to further vital breast cancer research. The donation follows the council’s successful Women’s Community Health and Wellbeing Fundraiser held recently.
Kris Pavlidis, President of the WMCC, expressed her pride in supporting the cause, noting the importance of community contributions in advancing medical research.
“The rising cancer statistics, from 1 in 4 to a staggering 1 in 2 individuals being affected, highlight the urgent need for continued research and support,” Pavlidis said.
The donation was warmly received by Professor Vasso Apostolopoulos and her team at their RMIT Bundoora laboratory.
Professor Apostolopoulos, who leads groundbreaking cancer research, expressed her gratitude for the early Christmas gift, which she described as a boost to their ongoing work.
“It’s amazing to see such efforts from the community,” Professor Apostolopoulos said, extending her thanks to the WMCC and Windsor Management, which also made a significant contribution to the cause.
The funds will go towards supporting Professor Apostolopoulos’s research team, furthering their mission to develop innovative treatments and improve outcomes for those impacted by cancer.
