Students from the Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) Schools brought festive cheer to the residents of Fronditha Care’s aged care facility in Clayton on Monday. Accompanied by parents and teachers, the students sang traditional Christmas carols.
The visit was met with emotional smiles and heartfelt gratitude from the elderly residents, whose joy was evident as they listened to the melodies and engaged with the young visitors. The students not only shared music but also brought a sense of love, companionship, and nostalgia, reminding residents of cherished childhood and homeland memories.
“This initiative is meaningful not only for the elderly but also for our children, who had the opportunity to experience the joy of giving and the importance of love by continuing a cherished Greek tradition, Christmas carols,” said Maria Bakalidou, Principal of the Greek Community of Melbourne Schools.
Bakalidou highlighted the profound impact of the event, saying, “Such moments remind us of the true essence of Christmas: love, humanity, and solidarity. We would like to thank everyone who participated—students, teachers, and parents—who made this celebration of love possible. A special thank you to the Fronditha staff for their warm hospitality. We look forward to fostering more intergenerational connections through similar activities in the future. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas filled with joy, health, and happiness!”
